Parents from both sides - my parents wearing green, Haimi's parents wearing blue

My sister and her hubby-to-be

My family + bro in law to be

after almost 9 years together, my sister and her bf decided to take a step forward - got engaged. yayyyyyy! everyone's been asking me, how the f can they stay together for so long? tak bosan ke? omg. to be honest, i've no idea. i myself have never been in a relationship longer than 8 months. so to the crazy in love couple, i salute you!

the engagement ceremony on 20th December 2009 was taken place at my house. ok people. my family may not look so Melayu, but in this case, we really did follow our Malay culture. it was a formal ceremony, not like those orang putih - go to a romantic dinner and pop the question. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! heheheh. just joking.

anyways, started off with my close relatives gather at my house. at 11.30am, my family greeted Haimi's family, who came with 5 dulang hantaran for my sister. for my bro in law, we prepared 7 dulang hantaran. my family and Haimi's family gathered at the living room and my dad introduced his family and so did Haimi's dad.basically, it was a formal discussion about the engagement, wedding dates etc... i couldn't really hear them. takpe laa. malas nak dgr org tua2 cakap. =P

after the discussion finished, Haimi's mom slipped the engagement ring onto Ratih's finger. wheeheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! and then, the moment everyone waited for, FOOD! oohhh.. wedding will be in July!!! for their akad nikah (will be at my house), i can invite as many friends as i want to hehehhehhe. ok maybe limit laa. i only wanna ajak the close ones. reception - can only invite 10 of my friends.

and then the pressure. my relatives were asking the younger sisters, Dian and I.. "bila turn awak pulak?" ok very annoyed!!! i'm only 20!! i know Ratih and Haimi have been together since they were 16, but can't compare with me. i'm a totally different person here. jodoh tu klau ada, ada la. klau takde, tak kuasa aku nak mencari!!

ok but if by 27 (was planning 30 but my friends said da lambat sgt - true) i'm still single, shall ask my mom to find one for me. okies? =)

Final Week of the Term

December has been so hectic for me. just when i thought i'd be free this week, oh no no.. Annis.. u might wanna change your mind about that.

let's start off with last Friday.
FROST PARTY was awesome. atleast i enjoyed myself. and i had such a great group of friends who went together with me. music was awesome. it wasn't too crowded. there was a bit of drama and i was pissed off initially, but eventually i had an amazing time. my committee members went home early, like 2am. i was like why??? and they said it was boring. it's ok la you know. my friends and i stayed til 3ish. then after we left, we went for takeaway and lepak at Sani's house. went back at 5.30 am. was totally tired.

Saturday.
UKEC regional meeting at 1 am. got up at 12. showered. went to Krobar to get latte and cake for brunch. meeting finished at 4. then had to shop for Icebreaker. dinner with Karina. then at 7ish pm, finally went home and chilled whilst watching X Factor.

Sunday.
MSSM Ice breaker. 40ish ppl came (we expected 80). it started off quite slow coz we all know how Malaysians are. but in the end of the day, it was a success indeed. thank you committee members! after ice breaker, final meeting before we broke up for Xmas. and i forgot bout Laura's birthday. not happy with myself.

my weekdays were supposed to be relaxing. but no. things came up.MSSM stuff. urgent meeting. and i still have my friends whom i need to attend to. was happy to meet Jaja and her family!! they came to Manchester to meet me =) =) love u, Ja!

i shall settle all the shit that i need to settle before i fly off tomorrow! flight's at 8pm! yay! =)
can't wait to see my little munchkin Molly! and my sister's engagement on Sunday! omg.

IT'S FUCKING SNOWING OUTSIDE!!!! how shit can it be?

you know what, my life may be hectic and all, but i love every single shit of it. yes, i may whine a bit about it. who doesn't? yes, people may say you can avoid this if you didn't run for the post. no. i wanted this post. i chose this and i expected this hecticness. so don't worry about me. i still have time for myself. i even stayed up til 6am last night bitching and gossiping with Nadia. =D

i love how my life is. the rush of adrenaline. the stress. the brainstorming. the team work. the satisfaction. the determination. the hardwork. the appreciation.

A week from now!

omg. i can't believe that i'm going back to Malaysia in a week's time. and my sister is getting engaged like the day after i arrive. hishh.. da laa arrive on 19th at night kan. aiyoyo. but anyways, i'm sure there ain't any last minute preparations for the engagement ceremony.

i have been really busy these past few days, trying to juggle my studies, duty as VP and social life. i'm pretty impressed with myself seeing the way i am able to handle them, so far. of course, very tiring but hey, i wanted the post so much and now that i got it, i'm definitely gonna work my ass to show that i'm as capable as what i said during my speech. taknak nanti orang kata, buat janji kosong je, kerja tak jalan pon.

in terms of study, i had to put in extra effort. i had to put aside other distractions and even a short time of studying matters. just have to know when to stop being distracted by the internet. and yes, i'm studying on daily basis now to prepare for my January exams. i will be having 5 papers and being a bit kiasu, i do really wanna get 1st class for my 2nd year.

i had so much going on this week. meetings in 3 consecutive days, singaporean society's AGM, events plannings, and last night went clubbing for Laura's birthday. tonight, Frost party by MUCSS, tomorrow shopping for ice breaker, and on Sunday MSSM Ice breaker. next week, further planning for Manchester Games and Malaysian Night and other events. we might be having a ball in summer. woop woop!

btw people, please mark these dates on your calendar!

Manchester Games: Saturday, 20th February 2010

Malaysian Night : Saturday, 17th April 2010

these are the dates decided by the committee, after weighing out the pros and cons. both events need support from Malaysians all over UK! and for Malaysian Night, we need u Manchester Malaysians! =)

anyways, i went to Birmingham to meet Aina, Debbie, Nurul and Hazim yesterday. thought that i should meet them atleast before i fly back to Malaysia next week. the girls were sooooooo sweet. they bought Christmas presents for me. sangat terharu. anyways, i love them all to bits.

last time i was in Birmingham was when i first came to UK with my family. that was 2006. we only went to the shopping mall, Bullring, then. but yesterday, my friends and i managed to explore Birmingham city. but initially we only wanted to hang around Bullring. so we walked a bit around Birmingham to find a restaurant called Jimmy Spice's World Buffet. damnnnnn.. we ate like a hell lot. for 10 pounds. well, i thought it was worthy. the food were good too. hehehe.

anyways, i'm trying to get used to being the vp of MSSM. i actually have another responsibility now, besides my studies. i need to know how to divide my time for both. we only had an informal meeting so far and i'm looking forward to a busy, stressful but exciting year ahead. we already have an event to plan for this week. and need to get a kick start on next year's events too.

meantime, i'm trying my very best to study as much as i can before Christmas break commences next week.

flight back to Malaysia on 18th dec!

Vice President of MSSM 09/10

the election for the new Malaysian Students' Society of Manchester (MSSM) committee was held yesterday and i am proud to announce that i am the newly elected Vice President of MSSM. i was really happy and at the same time very shocked coz i thought my opponents especially Gray Ham got the upper hand. i had to give out a speech and after that my opponents and i had to answer questions from the members who came. it was nerve wrecking! honestly saying, i kinda screwed up the Q&A part and i basically spoke my mind.. without thinking whether it was relevant or not. well, what to do, was under pressure and that was the first time i participated in an election. usually, in school, the teacher in charge of the society/club would appoint who gets the post and all. but this was definitely a whole new different thing.

MSSM currently has about 500 registered members, but i have to say only about 100 of them are actually active in society. many of them only attend events with free food. in Manchester, there is an obvious segregation amongst Malaysians. after the Annual General Meeting yesterday, it was quite obvious that MSSM has lost the members' respect. maybe members do not see the relevance of MSSM any longer. which is why i think the main focus of our committee this year has to be about bringing the Malaysians together again under MSSM and gain their trust and respect back.

i'm just gonna work my ass off to make this society better, and hopefully the rest of the committee members feel the same way too. congratulations again to the newly elected MSSM committee 09/10. looking forward to work with all of you. to the members, we hope to gain your support.
