first week of Easter

before the whole M night stressing started, i had a week off during Easter!! it was awesome and fun and loved every second of it. my friends and I went to Italy for 6 days. believe me, 6 days were not enough. i would have extended it by a few days, but for the love of MNight, my friends and I agreed on the 6-day trip.

first up, we arrived at Milan Malpensa Airport on 30th March. spent almost 2 hours finding our hotel. it was funny though. we blamed the shitty directions given by the hotel. argh. but i love the hotel. it was nice and CHEAP! well.. Milan.. hmm.. not my favourite city. it was boring. chilly. windy. rainy. and too expensive. seriously. there WASthis huge galleria with all the designer boutiques in it. hmm.. not my thing. i'm more of the high street person. h&m, zara, dp and primark are more of my thing.

thankfully, only spent 1 night in Milan. next day... went to Venice!! oooohh i love love love Venice. tho i think i burned way too much calories for going up and down the stairs. whatever it is, i thought the city was beautiful. and we went on the gondola! =)

one day in Venice is defo enough. next up, we travelled south to Florence. Florence.. hmm.. it's alright. the highlight was when we went to this amazing beautiful palace. i just love the garden. that pic above is the view of the garden. and i love the place that we stayed in there. and and.. since we were eating too much pasta and pizza for the past 2 days, decided to have dinner at a chinese restaurant. damnnn it was good.

final destination - Rome!! what can i say, i was in love with Rome! love love love the history and the buildings and the places we visited. and we even met the Pope. lol. not much of a museum lover, however, i definitely enjoyed Vatican Museum. i love reading all those Christian history. now now dont get me wrong. i just like reading their history, nothing wrong with that right? though, many people told me that the facts have been tampered with. well.. we never know now, would we?

we spent 2 days in Rome and my my, we walked and walked and walked for hours non stop. but it was worth it. we walked from the Pantheon to Vatican, but along the way, there were other places that we visited. ooohh... Rome was smokin hot!! it was like 30degrees during mid day. crazy. but at night, it got pretty chilly.

Aina, Nurul and Hazim, thanks for spending the holiday with me. it was great!!! although we snapped at each other a couple of times, i still love you all!

Manchester Malaysian Night 2010 - Cincai

this post is dedicated to my Cincai crew. i love you all.

Cincai production had been part of my life for the past 2 months.
i made loads of new friends and stronger bonds formed between the friends that i worked with throughout the production.

the practices for this production only started like a month before the real show. it was by far the most intense month my committee and i had ever been through. i myself was disappointed that i could not carry out my vision to start the practices like 2 months before. but it was no one's fault. it's just that time was not on our side. we had big events such as Manchester Games and Couple Gig therefore we could only divert our attention to the production after Couple gig ended on 19th March.

the stress. only God knows. but during practices, i remember the number of times my crew and I rolled on the floor laughing so hard til we wanted to cry. i did not experience this much laughter when i became the main cast last year. as much stress as we endured, it was somehow balanced by happy, funny moments.

the past years' Malaysian Nights had been all about long dramas. this year, we took a risk. a new approach. we tied 6 different short stories together as the core of our MNight. the first play was about 7 smokers complaining about the TakNak campaign. 2nd - a P Ramlee tribute. 3rd - a play showing how a deaf and mute person endured obstacles to support his family. 4th - a comedy when 3 friends argued over tapau-ing food after a party. 5th - a man, a wife and 2 mistresses. 6th - typical romance between Malay girl and Chinese boy. and not forgetting other performances like the dikir barat, street dance and our grand finale - Malay, Chinese and Indian dances and then the 1 Malaysia dance.

was the new approach a success? based on the feedbacks, majority of the audience enjoyed the whole play. as the past years' had been more about serious dramas, this year's a bit more fun as the scripts were funny. well, one can argue, is it funny funny or funny lame? i'd say funny funny. really. i was in the Tapau scene and omg, I kept on laughing during every practice. the booming laughters throughout the entire show were evidence that the audience enjoyed it.

as the Executive Producer of this show, i saw such commitment and endless hardwork by everyone, be it the dancers, the actors and the committee members. during the 2 weeks leading to the real day, everyone went hardcore. practices after practices. day and night. long hours. i was absolutely amazed by the spirit shown by everyone.

now that the production is done, some of us have already been struck by PMS - Post MNight Syndrome. well as for me, i really do miss the practices and hanging out with you all. the fun times. and the laughters.

special thanks to my graceful dancers and entertaining actors. without you all, Malaysian Night wouldn't have happened.

thank you to KNUKE MANCHESTER and KUSMA. your support is priceless and we appreciate it so much.

my dearest committee members - Neng, Gray, Shwu Wei, Fion, Jacqueline, Sue Jinn, Yee You, Syaz, Lucas, Tian Ji, Lay Pin and Pearl. well.. what can i say.. we made this through together!! we all had each other's backs and i had an amazing time working with you all. *hugs and kisses*

my final words for CINCAI, it's a wrap, guys!!!

MY FINAL STATEMENT (ON BEHALF OF MSSM AND KNUKE) TO SOBERMALAYSIA

I'm just going to copy and paste what i commented on the SOBERMALAYSIA.BLOGSPOT.COM.
MSSM has talked to MCOT and IMAM leaders earlier today and it has been concluded that this petition has been spread by an individual, not those societies. however, that individual used the MCOT mailing list to spread it. MCOT and IMAM leaders promised to issue an official statement in order to clear MSSM and KNUKE's names and will help us in finding the person who is behind all of this. it has been really tensed here in Manchester, especially amongst us Malaysians. i really do hope this case will be closed, once and for all. after all, what's done is done. we can only take this as a lesson and make sure this never happens again.

______________________________________

please note that i'm not defending the Muslims who consumed alcohol. however, i do believe that i am in no position to stop them. like i said, we can only advise them, no more or less than that.

i wish not to bring this up on my blog again.

thank you to those who have been supporting us.
MSSM and KNUKE ROCK!!!!!!!

I'M FINALLY FREE... OWH WAIT... NOT YET.. still have exams!!

Hi Everyone.

sorry i have been M.I.A starting from the end of the gig til tonight. NOW I'M SO FREEEEEEEE!!!

Firstly, i am so proud of my committee for pulling such an amazing job in both gig and Malaysian night. we gave 150% and it paid off well.

I've been getting endless congrats and praise for the Malaysian Night as soon as it ended. really happy.

as for the Couple gig, KNUKE and MSSM managed to make it big and we set the bar high. i couldn't be happier with the success of the gig. most importantly, all of us had so much fun during the gig. after the gig?? owh well... can i just say that we Malaysians love creating drama. but KNUKE and MSSM feel that these dramas are too petty.. and not even worth to be worried about. after all, we have clarified everything. and some people are not satisfied with the fact that we don't get the "publicity" that we should get. and so it spread throughout UK, Ireland and now even Malaysia. well done people. thanks for giving us that much publicity. owh yes... we LOVE it! keep it coming! in the end of the day, you guys are just making fools out of yourselves.

you all must be wondering whats this all about. go read sobermalaysia.blogspot.com.

can i just say.. that we MSSM, KNUKE, representatives from those who support the petition and Malaysian Students' Department already had a meeting 2 weeks ago to clarify this case. no point elaborating. what pisses me off is that these people said that the petition is written by anonymous and they did not mention MSSM and KNUKE's names. well well well.. as written in sobermalaysia, the petition clearly stated MSSM and KNUKE's names. can i just say, if you want to lie, please don't be stupid enough to lie in such manner. it makes you look bad, not us. sources told me that this is a second petition, not the same one read during the meeting. may i know why?? what pisses me off the most is that you sent email to your mailing list to notify your members to sign up for the petition WHEN THE CASE IS ALREADY CLOSED!
so there are only two possibilities here -
1. your leader who attended the meeting did not tell you and his members about the outcome of the meeting, therefore you acted without consent from your leader
2. you already knew the outcome of the meeting but still sent out the email anyway. and maybe told by your leaderto do so.

seriously, what in God's name are you trying to proof? that you are above everyone else? that you are better and so called concerned? or are you just trying to tarnish our good reputation?

too bad. you are representing a very small number of Malaysians.

i demand a full explanation and public apology to MSSM and KNUKE. this has gone wayyyyyy too far.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

see guys. we Manchester Malaysians love dramas. when we don't have one, we create one.

anyways, MANCHESTER MALAYSIAN NIGHT last night was AWESOME!!

WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT BETTER.
ok. maybe we could have done better for dikir barat, but other parts were just terrific!!!

this is not VP praising her hardwork.
this is VP praising the crew for their excellent hardwork, commitment and determination to make this an awesome show. it was like less than a month of practices, but we set the bar high!!

thanks so much guys! i love y'all!

yes yes yes... to all my friends in Malaysia, you will be able to contact me easily now. i miss you guys. cant wait to go back home!! less than 2 more months!
