this post is dedicated to my Cincai crew. i love you all.
Cincai production had been part of my life for the past 2 months.
i made loads of new friends and stronger bonds formed between the friends that i worked with throughout the production.
the practices for this production only started like a month before the real show. it was by far the most intense month my committee and i had ever been through. i myself was disappointed that i could not carry out my vision to start the practices like 2 months before. but it was no one's fault. it's just that time was not on our side. we had big events such as Manchester Games and Couple Gig therefore we could only divert our attention to the production after Couple gig ended on 19th March.
the stress. only God knows. but during practices, i remember the number of times my crew and I rolled on the floor laughing so hard til we wanted to cry. i did not experience this much laughter when i became the main cast last year. as much stress as we endured, it was somehow balanced by happy, funny moments.
the past years' Malaysian Nights had been all about long dramas. this year, we took a risk. a new approach. we tied 6 different short stories together as the core of our MNight. the first play was about 7 smokers complaining about the TakNak campaign. 2nd - a P Ramlee tribute. 3rd - a play showing how a deaf and mute person endured obstacles to support his family. 4th - a comedy when 3 friends argued over tapau-ing food after a party. 5th - a man, a wife and 2 mistresses. 6th - typical romance between Malay girl and Chinese boy. and not forgetting other performances like the dikir barat, street dance and our grand finale - Malay, Chinese and Indian dances and then the 1 Malaysia dance.
was the new approach a success? based on the feedbacks, majority of the audience enjoyed the whole play. as the past years' had been more about serious dramas, this year's a bit more fun as the scripts were funny. well, one can argue, is it funny funny or funny lame? i'd say funny funny. really. i was in the Tapau scene and omg, I kept on laughing during every practice. the booming laughters throughout the entire show were evidence that the audience enjoyed it.
as the Executive Producer of this show, i saw such commitment and endless hardwork by everyone, be it the dancers, the actors and the committee members. during the 2 weeks leading to the real day, everyone went hardcore. practices after practices. day and night. long hours. i was absolutely amazed by the spirit shown by everyone.
now that the production is done, some of us have already been struck by PMS - Post MNight Syndrome. well as for me, i really do miss the practices and hanging out with you all. the fun times. and the laughters.
special thanks to my graceful dancers and entertaining actors. without you all, Malaysian Night wouldn't have happened.
thank you to KNUKE MANCHESTER and KUSMA. your support is priceless and we appreciate it so much.
my dearest committee members - Neng, Gray, Shwu Wei, Fion, Jacqueline, Sue Jinn, Yee You, Syaz, Lucas, Tian Ji, Lay Pin and Pearl. well.. what can i say.. we made this through together!! we all had each other's backs and i had an amazing time working with you all. *hugs and kisses*

ReplyDeletejoe: did u mean by the crew or the audience? well, for the crew, i would say that m night made them discover hidden talents. some of them had never acted or danced, and since they were committed to the practices, a lot of them turned out to be awesome at what they were doing. another thing is this m night supports the 1Malaysia campaign. we even had the 1Malaysia dance, portraying the multiracial people dancing together as one nation. i couldn't think of any drawbacks from this except the stress and sacrifices made for the practices. we all enjoyed this show thoroughly. and so did the audience. that's all that matters. we made their 8 pounds ticket worth it.
