i do bitch a lot.
but it's different when bitching about people that u know than bitching about people that u live with.
this bitching has been going on in my flat for quite sometime and it's getting worse just recently.
i love my flatmates to bits.
they have been honest with each other and if there's any misunderstanding, they'll sort it out between themselves.
but what annoys me is, when they've sorted it out, they still talk about it behind each other's backs. i'm not comfortable with that. coz i'm always the one listening to them bitching about each other. and it's like keeping secrets for each of them. living with them and seeing them each day makes it harder for me to just listen to them bitching.
owh well, i've tried to stay out of trouble and just shut up about it.
this bitching involves them, not me. so whatever.
ok now i'm gonna talk a bit about my clubbing habit.
yes, i have been clubbing quite a lot recently, up to a point where Aina had to tell me off, not coz she's not happy with me going to clubs, but coz of what she thinks people might think of me.
i'm well aware of what people might be saying behind my back.
"eh annis tu da jd wild laa kat uk.. slalu gi clubbing"
"entah2 annis da start minum since die slalu gi clubbing"
i've got two words for the people who ever said or thought like this. PISS OFF!! my clubbing nights have been purely about dancing to good music, and of course having a good time with friends. thats it. susah2. people can be so judgmental.
yes, maybe i should cut down on my clubbing nights. but for this month, i can't avoid them. like last week, i went with my flatmates coz we had never gone clubbing together. this weekend is my friend's birthday and she's having a party at a club. and next week,Kathryn and i are going to Laura's place and we've planned for a night out at her town weeks ago.
i guess it's just uni life here that people don't seem to understand.
i don't know why i even bother explaining.

You What??

i had my Pharmacy Ball last night. it was good actually. it's just that i don't know many people at the ball. most of them were 4th year. i think for my year, there were about 50 of us who attended. which was ok, compared to the 2nd year, where only 6th of them turned up. the theme was Casino Royale, so there were blackjack, roulette tables. played blackjack for 1 hour. yes, i did. they gave us fake money to buy the chips. now i know why some of my friends cannot stop gambling. even though i wasnt playing with real money, i could feel the addictiveness when playing. lol. i miss proms i had in Malaysia. at the proms i attended, i know atleast more than half of the people in the ballroom. but this ball.. haihh.. i only know a handful. pfft. anyway, slept over at Francesca's place. went back to her place at 1.30. slept at 2.30 and woke up at 10.30am. felt like crap coz slept quite a lot.
had lunch with my two close friends from college, Karina and Didi. as i told u, i have cut my ex off my life completely by deleting him off Facebook and MSN. but i guess as long as i have friends in common with him, i still get news from my friends about him. not that i asked about him. but Karina was being very expressive today and she was completely bitching about him to me. seriously, i've never seen her really pissed off about someone before. she kept on calling him Bajingan, which i know Indos won't use that word unless it really applies to that particular person. and so Karina told me that he has been advertising his relationship on Facebook and MSN. his status kept on changing, trying to tell the whole world how much he loves his new gf. i said to them, "owh he never did that when we were together." Karina said "is he trying to make u jealous?" and i said, "yeah.. how am i suppose to be jealous when i cant even read what he's posted." according to Karina, he has only hmmm.. Pamela to tell everything coz apparently she understands the reason why he did what he did to me. losing ur friends aren't u? well i believe in God and the things that He can do in a split second, so..
Bajingan, i will just leave it to God to "reward" u for all the shit u've done to me.
Aina told me not to hold grudge against him. i'm not. but like i said, i believe in the things God can do.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
i'm in a deep shit.
yesterday, i went to the Malaysian Night audition. well.. i was thinking, i don't really fancy dancing on that night. and tarian melayu? my god. yesterday tried traditional dance. omg omg. tangan keras cam kayu, camne nak buat tarian melayu. pfft. so just tried out for the acting. there were only 7 of us who tried out for acting. kesian ok. da laa the VP of MSSM is my KTJ senior and i know most of the committee members.
so.. Chia Hsien divided us to 2 groups and gave us a scene. for my group, the scene is in a hotel. so.. i'm good at being bitchy, so i acted as a bitchy receptionist yang kena layan a bitchy customer. they all liked the acting. and so the deep shit is, the committee members appointed me as the lead actress. FUCKIN HELLLLLLL!!! i have no experience or whatsoever in acting. and acting bitchy was easy for me. but what if i have to act as miss goody two shoes or sad or angry?????? owhh god. Malaysian Night is such a big event here, so if anything goes wrong, i'll be blamed. owh dear.. the responsibilities. had cut short my holiday to only 8 days. damn. to back out from this Malaysian Night, is such a shame. so.. i'll give it a shot and maybe when we start the practices i may not be good enough for the role so maybe they will change my character? i wish...
then after the audition went to Red Chilli with Eric, Alvin and Tony, then later joined by Azri. good food. hell yeh. oooh.. then we went to play mahjong. haihh.. kawan ngan cha ya nun alif, so blaja laa main mahjong. i learned to play it like last year, when one of the weekends we were bored stiff and decided to spend 4 hours playing mahjong. last night played til 2.30 am. so go figure. i was knackered as hell. Azri learned to play as well. fun!
i'll be having a really busy month once the practices for Malaysian Night start. loads of commitment. but it's a challenge. and i wanna try something new. so my friends in the UK, please come to Manchester Malaysian Night on the 18th April. =)

Just Another Week
haven't done anything exciting this week.
Monday night - went out with my flatmates, Laura and Kathryn to Tiger Tiger (pics are up on Facebook). it was quite good, but i think i had more fun on Thursday night at Pure. maybe coz the songs were better there and had a big dance floor to move around easily. lol.
i had a meeting with my tutor on Wednesday and she told me what ranking did i get for my first semester exam. out of about 180 1st year Pharmacy students, i'm number 41. which i think was ok. i could have done better but considering the fact that i got 71% for my average and exactly 10 days of proper studying before exam, i'm quite happy with what i got. and my tutor was well pleased with me. =)
looking back at my first semester, it was purely about settling down at uni, meeting people and just getting my assignments done on time. throughout the first semester, i didn't study consistently. i would only study when i had tests. i didn't pay attention in lectures coz i was having a hard time getting used to them. lectures are definitely different than the normal classes we had in college/high skool. i'm gonna change. i'm quite motivated to start studying anytime soon for my exams in May/June.
today i had lunch with Izzah. i am going to stay with her next year in a 2 bedroom apartment. went to an agent to see if they can help us find some nice ones, but the guy who talked to us said there aren't any available apartments now, and so, we have to wait till May or June. he will be keeping in touch i think. worse come to worse, i'll just stay in any of the student halls here.
Azri and Arif will be coming to Manchester tomorrow. might be having dinner with them.
Saturday is my Pharmacy Ball. i'm excited to get all dressed up.
i may not only be the choreographer for Malaysian Night, but MAYBE i'll also be one of the dancers or actresses. we'll see.

Weekend in Bristol with the International 16
i know some of u may know what the hell is international 16. but to those of u who dont, international 16 is a group of 16 students of 16 different nationalities who meet up every week and do a lot of activities together, either cultural or just plain leisure. this group is organised by the International Society of Manchester University. to be in this group, one has to go to an informal interview. for this year, the 16s were picked out from about 200 interviewees. so i was lucky enough to be part of this group.
the reason why i was interested to join this group is coz i wanna get to know more people and get out from my safe zone. since Manchester has a huge population of Malaysians, we tend to stick to each other, and this results to Malaysians not mixing around with other people. so being in the international 16 is such a great opportunity for me to meet other people from other countries. well, i have my Brit flatmates and coursemates, so i need another group of people who are international people.
we had a trip before, to Yorkshire Dales. this trip to Bristol was our 2nd trip. it was fun. major bonding time with them. well, this trip was actually for us to get together our ideas and practise for a performance that we're gonna do for school kids this Wednesday. so we didnt get to go around Bristol that much coz most of our daytime we spent at the theatre skool to practise for the performance. i didnt really like the idea of this actually, but atleast we spent some quality time together on Saturday night at our group leader's dad's house. had dinner there, and the food was amazing. love it! then we just talked and talked and talked.
i remember having conversations with some of them and it went some sort like this.
John: hey Annis, u dont look like typical Malay
Annis: what do u mean by typical Malay?
John: most of them wear head scarf.
Annis: well, i've told u the reasons why i dont wear head scarf. i'm not ready yet.
William: ur a Muslim?
Annis: yeh...
Paul: do u pray everyday?
Annis: yup...
Paul: 5 times a day?
Annis: nope.. (honest)
Paul: do u drink at all?
Annis: nope
William: do u go to the mosque to pray?
Annis: no, i pray at home
William: u pray towards Makkah right?
Annis: yup
William: funny... i can't imagine u praying with the clothes covering u and all.
Dragos: Malaysia is a Muslim country right? do u have women's rights there?
Annis: of course. some of the ministers in Malaysia are women
Dragos: owh.. i thought that Malaysia is like the Arab countries.
goshh... some deep conversation there. i don't feel hurt or whatsoever with what they said. i have to keep an open mind and explain to them why this is like this and that is like that. i may not be a good picture of how a Muslim woman should be (physically). i understand why they asked me those questions coz in their minds, they have a typical picture of a Muslim woman - conservative in every way, covered with cloth from head to toe. i am not like those women. but it doesn't mean that i don't have a strong belief in my religion and Allah. belief comes from the heart.
anyway, overall i had a good time in Bristol. ooohh.. i juz got the international 16 hoodie! hooray! it's too simple, i would say but it represents us, so i cant say much.
there's a bit of conflict in my flat lately. and i hate that i got dragged into this little mess. bak kata Aina, org putih ni buat hal plak. anyway, i'll have to upload pics later! internet's a bitch!
